Product Code: Intensive One-on-One Collagraph
Product Status: available
A One to One workshop - just you with Bronwyn Rees to explore the creation of a collagraph at a time to suit you. This five hour workshop will teach you everything you need to know to get your art practise up and running.
In this workshop, Bronwyn will provide technical assistance with the creation of your collagraph. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced is immaterial, some experience of other printmaking is desirable, so we can focus on the making of your plates and prints.
Collagraph is a textured collage on a cardboard ground, which is coated in shellac. Shellac is a shiny waterproof surface resistant to turps so can be used for intaglio printing. Anything maybe used in the collage process, for example, sand, fabric, feathers etcetera. The only limitation is the depth of the textures which cannot be too thick for ease of printing.
The cardboard may also be scratched and cut into.
While waiting for your shellac to dry, you can experiment with acetate, a clear plastic sheet that maybe scratched with various tools and machines to create different textures. It differs from collagraph, the end result closer to etching. The advantage of acetate is its transparency, you can trace an existing artwork with ease and print it without any other preparation other than inking.
Bronwyn finds it preferable to work in day-long sessions [ie 5 hours] to get maximum flow of concentration.
Course cost: $375 for 5 hours intensive tuition (plus materials)
