Partners in Print Exchange Portfolio Melbourne Partners in Print Exchange Portfolio organized by stalwarts Michael Florrimel and Paul Sommerset over the past 17 years with their exchange portfolio answers the question Otto Dix’s War (Der Krieg 1924) series begs; what would contemporary printmakers do with the subject matter of war? The 2007 Exchange Portfolio War, Peace and Freedom (titled by artists in the Exchange Portfolio itself) answered this question with photogravure, relief and intaglio prints, lino cuts, wood cuts, digital prints, photogravure, spray painted embossed work and silk cuts in many colours. None of the exchange artists have been conscripted and view current wars from the TV, the subject of war was softened with the hopeful additions of Peace and Freedom as subject matter. The 2007 Exchange Portfolio War, Peace and Freedom can be viewed at the National Gallery of Australia in Cambera as part of their permanent collection, or by appointment with Michael Florrimel or Paul Sommerset at The War (Der Krieg), 1924 series, inspired by Francisco Goya’s The Disasters of War Print Series (c1810-20); currently hanging at the National Gallery of Victoria in their dedicated Print Room. This collection highlights a masterful use of print techniques with etching, dry point, aquatint and combined print techniques employed. This traveling exhibition offers inspiration and premonition from a master in traditional print techniques.

Notes from Angela Morgan in Pompei Hi, Have just been asked to go on a dig to Pompeii to sketch there for the Exhibition at the Museum and Potter..... I am staggered! The guy who's hired me has been my advisor while I did my archaeology course. There will be an exhibition at the Victorian Museum Melbourne given his status as a world figure on Pompeii Archaeology. Bye for now, Angie
